Mud Drum Replacement

During an inspection on a routine shutdown for a Hog Fuel Boiler, we found cracking in the lignen between the holes on the tubesheet of the Mud Drum. The customer's AI condemned the Mud drum. The customer, after receiving a quoted delivery of seventeen weeks from the OEM, approached PSF to discuss the replacement of the Drum. We received the job to fabricate a replacement Drum and install it after committing to a delivery of four weeks. Our field crew took strappings of the Drum, cut the heads off and sent them to our Seattle shop. Then, they removed the Generator Bank and Mud Drum. Samples of the Generator Tubes were flown back east to our tube supplier. By the time our shop completed fabrication of the replacement Drum, the new tubes had been air freighted to the job site. The Drum was delivered and installed, the Generator tubes were installed and the boiler was Hydro-tested and put back on line within the four weeks we quoted.
