We replaced forty-six Superheater Pendants in a Northwest Pulp Mill’s Recovery Boiler. Because of high sales demand the Pulp Mill could not take extended downtime for this work. Instead, they opted to replace the Pendants over three regularly scheduled week long maintenance shutdowns during which our crew replaced twenty-two, then eighteen and finally six Pendants. In each case, our crew removed the original Pendants and installed the new by cutting two tubes out of the waterwalls below the elevation of the Superheater and running a monorail into the boiler from which the Pendants were rigged into place with chainfalls.
